Reasonable calcium supplementation can reduce the rate of egg breakage. If there is insufficient calcium in the feed, calcium will be used to form egg shells. The longer the calcium in the bone is passively used to form the shell, the worse the shell strength. Not only will there be soft-shelled eggs or shellless eggs, but it will also promote the consumption of feed, increase feed and eliminate fat, promote fatty deposits in the liver and muscles, and seriously affect the egg production rate. Conversely, excessive supply of calcium will reduce the appetite of laying ducks and significantly affect egg production.

Therefore, under normal circumstances, the reasonable demand for calcium in laying ducks is: when the laying rate is below 65%, calcium is 2.5%; when the laying rate is between 65% and 85%, calcium is 3%; the egg production rate is 80 Above %, calcium is from 3.21% to 3.5%.

Feeding and management are normal, and most ducks start production around the age of 100 days. Unopened female ducks also actively store calcium in bones in preparation for egg production. When egg ducks lack vitamin D3, eggshell quality decreases, and the hatching rate of soft shell eggs and breeding eggs is low.
