Cultivation Technique of Watermelon in a Greenhouse

The watermelon in greenhouses is “more harvested at a time”, which refers to planting more than one batch of harvest. It is usually planted in the middle and early January and transplanted in the middle and late February. The first batch of watermelons will be harvested after May 1, and the harvest will be completed by the end of October. The harvest times will often be as high as 5-6 times. "Cultivating more and more" cultivation techniques must focus on long-term coordination of the relationship between rooting, vine protection, leaf protection, and squash. The main points of cultivation of watermelons in greenhouses are described as follows:

(1) Applying basal fertilizer in a timely manner on the basis of plowing mature soil, combined with winter cultivating 500 kg of Mushi farmyard fertilizer and 50 kg of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. When the ramming is done, it will use 10-15 kg of compound fertilizer per mu, and will do the clean-up of the ditch system and the ditch system before sowing, so that the rain will stop drying and the drought will fill.

(2) The varieties with excellent selection, disease resistance, and strong resistance are the basis for the high yield of harvesting watermelon in greenhouses. According to practice, it is generally better to use the early good (8424) series, because the early good is in the middle of the fruit type, high yield and good quality and taste good, so the market sells well. At the same time, it takes a relatively long time to use greenhouses to build a shed with high quality, and it plays a role in preventing cold, wind, and rain.

(3) Fertilizer management During the seedling stage, the watermelon is spread to the vine after planting. Because of the nutrition seedlings and pedicels, the fertilizer is generally not required except for irrigating water. When the main vine grows to 40-50 cm, the side vines also begin to grow. At this time, the growth of the plants is accelerated and the demand for fertilizer and water begins to increase. If there is not enough fertilizer and water, the growth is slow, the leaves are small, and the leaves are light in color, some light fertilizer water must be applied to promote the growth of melon vines. As the size of the eggs grows, the demand for nutrients begins to increase significantly. Therefore, it is imperative to apply the expanded manure. The first and second batches of guarana are due to basal fat, low temperature and long maturation period. When the melons and fruits grow to large bowls, the Mushi Sanyuan compound fertilizer is 15-18 kilograms, and 200-250 kilograms of water is added for acupuncture, one week later. Once again, the amount is the same. Stop fertilization 7-10 days before harvest. Since the subsequent batches of melons have high temperatures and mature rapidly, the expanded melon fertilizers can generally be applied when the table tennis balls are in size, and once in a week, the quantity is the same as the last time. The amount of topdressing fertilizer for the entire watermelon growing period is generally 250-300 kg of Sanyuan compound fertilizer. In the hot season of July and August, due to the rapid transpiration of the leaf surface, fresh water must be applied frequently.

(4) The twigs and vines are cultivating in a row and generally receive 300-350 strains of melon seedlings in the general mu, using the three-vine pruning method. When the side vines grow to 20cm, choose one main vine and two robust side vines. The side vines that grow on the main and side vines are generally left with 1-2 roots and the rest are removed. The main and side vines are generally not topped, so that they naturally close the vine. After the second batch of melons are harvested, the method of vegetal side vines is generally used. Under normal circumstances, due to the application of swelled manure, many side vines will grow at the base. When these side vines grow to about 20 cm, they will retain 2-3 of their robust side vines, and the rest will be removed. These side-grown melons that grow on these bases are large and of good quality. The purpose of the vine is to distribute the melon vines uniformly. The melon seedlings are generally planted at a distance of 50-70cm from the center ditch. In the selected three vines, the two vines are outward and the vines are elongated inward along the ridge edge. Prevent overlap between melon vines.
