Kiwi late management drought and fertilization is the key

Recently, the northern slopes of the Qinling Mountains are crisp and pleasant. The kiwi fruit growing county known as the “Golden Week” is known for its fruitful harvest in the kiwifruit orchard of Zhouzhi County, Shaanxi Province. On August 21st, this reporter interviewed kiwifruit expert and senior agronomist Ni Yude for the problems that should be paid attention to in the later management of kiwifruit that are concerned about fruit growers.

"The drought is not dry, and the autumn drought is bad."

The 68-year-old teacher Ni Yude has been studying kiwifruit for almost 40 years. To this day, he still exerts the remaining heat, spares no effort, sticks to the production line of kiwifruit, cultivates new products, and guides scientific management of fruit farmers. During the interview, the reporter learned that in 2009, Ni Yude took the lead in establishing the Sanyang Kiwifruit Cooperative in Zhouzhi County, Xi’an, involving more than a hundred farmers and an area of 1400 mu of kiwifruit. Teacher Ni said, "The advantage of setting up a cooperative is to implement a unified management standard, intensive production, and finally to recover the fruits of the members, to help everyone solve the problem of selling difficulties, so that we will have the confidence to follow the cooperatives." That year, Ni Yude own hundred Acres Kiwifruit Garden was rated as “Advanced Model Park” for the Baiye Garden Demonstration Project in Xi'an City. He himself has been rated as an “advanced individual” for fruit industry promotion work for many years.

Teacher Ni told reporters that after the autumn, the kiwifruit management should pay attention to drought prevention, and the farmer's said well, “If the drought is not dry, the autumn drought is bad,” and if the fall is severe, it will directly affect the yield and quality of the kiwifruit.

Five fertilizations are indispensable for organic fertilizers

In addition to drought prevention, we must also pay attention to scientific fertilization. Ni Yude said that during the growth of kiwifruit, fertilizer should be applied five times. The first fertilization in the early spring is dominated by bio-organic fertilizers, with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. In addition, farmyard manure such as pigs, chickens, and sheep manure is also a good choice. The second fertilization is one week before flowering of the kiwifruit. This fertilization determines the fruit type, so it needs heavy phosphorus and light nitrogen; the third fertilization is mainly for nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium during the expansion of the kiwi fruit; the fourth fertilization is One month before the ripening of the kiwifruit fruit, the fertilization is mainly based on bio-organic fertilizer. The purpose is to increase the soil organic matter, but also to apply oil residue, potassium sulfate, etc.; after the fifth fertilization, after picking fruit, the main organic bio-organic fertilizer is used. Apply urea. Under the leadership of Ni Yude, the reporter visited his kiwifruit orchard. This is a kiwifruit garden dominated by the early-maturing variety “Cuixiang”. The fruits of the branches are really impressive. He explained that this is a floodplain and the soil layer is very thin. In the past two years, the "Chu Nong" bio-organic fertilizer was applied in Hubei, and the soil was improved. The yield and quality of kiwifruit also increased significantly. Last year, a pound of "Cuixiang" was sold for 28 yuan. He concluded that it is particularly important to use raw organic fertilizer to produce fine kiwifruit.

For the fruit growers who want to grow kiwi, Ni Yude proposes several suggestions: First, select seedlings (ungrafted fruit seedlings) suitable for the local climate; second, observe if there are pathogens from the roots and sections of fruit trees, if the roots of the seedlings A root-knot nematode or section section is light brown, it shows that there are pathogens in fruit trees; third is to test the pH value of the soil in the planting area (acidity), slightly acidic soil is better; Secondly, we must understand the groundwater level, if the water level is too high, also Not suitable for planting. In short, the kiwifruit is "hi water afraid of water, hi light is afraid of light, hi fat afraid of fat." Management should be in place, moderate, so as to produce high-quality commercial fruit.
