Breeding of youngsters and young birds

In the early stages of raising young pigeons, it's essential to provide them with finely ground and softened feed. This type of feed is typically made by grinding corn, mixing it with rice and beans, soaking the mixture in fresh water for 2–3 hours, and then drying it before feeding. The feed should be nutritionally balanced, including all necessary trace elements. To support their health, you can add vitamins to their drinking water. It's also important to create a comfortable nursery environment. The area should be warm, windproof, and dry, and the young pigeons should remain in this setting for approximately 20 days. At around 50 days old, they begin to molt, which makes them more sensitive to environmental changes and prone to illness. During this time, careful attention must be paid to temperature control. You can add some anti-cold medications to their water and increase the energy content of their diet by feeding them more corn and wheat. After three months of age, it's recommended to group the young pigeons together. This helps prevent early mating and premature births, which could negatively affect their future breeding performance. Throughout the breeding process, it's best to conduct two selection phases: the first at three months and the second at five months. Any individuals that show signs of inbreeding, are underweight, have poor health, or don't meet the breeding standards should be removed from the breeding program. By following these practices, you can ensure the healthy development of your young pigeons and set them up for successful breeding later on.
