Growth characteristics of almonds

Almond, also known as Almond, Ba Danmu, is a dried fruit that produces nuts and is a very good woody oil tree species.
The almond is a tall, deciduous tree of the tree, belonging to the genus Amygdalaceae of the family Rosaceae. The tree properties and requirements are consistent with the nut trees such as walnuts. The tree features are similar to the fruit trees such as peach, apricot and plum. There are about 40 species of this genus. There are about 5 species of almonds in China: Common Almond, Tanggut Almond, Mongolian Almond, Long-handled Almond and Wild Almond (Dwarf Almond). There are more than 100 varieties.
Almond is one of the longevity tree species, with fast growth and early results. Seedlings usually start from 3 to 4 years, and grafted seedlings begin to produce results in 2 to 3 years; 10 to 25 years are full fruit; 40 to 50 years later, fertility begins to decline, and tree life reaches 120 to 130 years, even Longer; tree heights up to 8 to 13 meters, powerful crowns.
The roots of Almonds are well developed, with 2 years of seedlings, roots up to 2 meters long, 10 to 15 years old trees, roots up to 6 meters in depth, and up to 7 meters in horizontal roots, which exceeds the canopy range. Therefore, almonds are highly resistant to drought.
The time for the formation of apricot flower buds in Patan is later than that of peach trees and is basically the same as that of apricot trees. According to reports, the almond flower bud differentiation period, about 30 to 45 days before fruit ripening, develops slowly before the fruit is harvested. In order to ensure the normal differentiation of flower buds, after the fruit is harvested, it is necessary to keep the tree vigorous and the leaves intact.
Almond blossom earlier, first after flowering leaves, flowering earlier than peach, and almond tree flowering period. As the almond blossoms earlier, it is vulnerable to late frost hazards.
The budding apricot is strong, the shoots grow vigorously, and the annual growth can reach more than 2 meters. The sprouts of almonds in the almonds have precociousness. In one growth period, secondary branches can occur. Therefore, it is possible to suppress excessive nutrition through topping. Grow, promote shoots enrichment, improve wintering ability; can be trimmed through summer to accelerate shaping and early results.
Prunus amygdalus is a light tree species. When the planting density is too large, the branches tend to become slender. Bending, guilty emptiness, branches long, results. Therefore, the planting density should not be too large.
The size of almond apricot production capacity varies depending on the site conditions and cultivation and management techniques. Under good cultivation and management conditions, the yield of almonds per hectare can reach more than 3,000 kg.
