How to cure cucumber "Taligua"

"Taligua melon" is a type of malformed cucumber commonly found in the cultivation of cucumbers. So what caused the production of "Taligua melon" in production?

The main reasons are:

(1) The fertilization of female flowers in cucumber is not good, only seeds are formed at the front end of the melon, which leads to a special hypertrophy of the flesh tissue at the tip of the melon, showing a "big belly" shape.

(2) Excessive application of nitrogenous fertilizer to cucumber plants may result in the lack of potash fertilizer and may also produce large-diabetes.

(3) Uneven water supply during the cucumber growth cycle. The lack of water in the early growth period of cucumber, and the large amount of water supply in the later period, will lead to the formation of "Taligua melon." The main reason is that when there is water shortage, the cells grow slowly; when a large amount of water is supplied, the cells grow and develop rapidly, so they will form a "big gourd."

Prevention:

(1) Create suitable conditions, promote flowering and pollination, or use appropriate point anthers.

(2) Appropriate use of potassium fertilizers such as plant ash and potassium nitrate, and foliar spraying of potassium-containing foliar fertilizers such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate.

(3) Provide a balanced supply of water throughout the entire growth cycle of the cucumber, keep the soil dry and see wet, and avoid sudden flooding after excessive drought.
