Fermentation Agent for Fermenting Bagasse in Papermaking

Paper is primarily composed of plant fibers, and bagasse—byproduct of sugarcane processing—is rich in hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin, making it a promising raw material for paper production. However, direct mechanical pulping of bagasse can be inefficient due to the presence of lignin, which increases energy consumption and overall pulping costs. Therefore, it's essential to reduce or eliminate the negative impact of lignin during the pulping process. Bagasse has a complex structure, mainly consisting of cellulose (about 35.4%), hemicellulose (around 20.6%), and lignin (approximately 18.6%). Cellulose is made up of β-1,4-glycosidic bonds connecting glucose units, forming a two-phase system with both crystalline and amorphous regions. The crystalline regions have hydroxyl groups that readily form hydrogen bonds with water molecules, making them resistant to degradation. Hemicellulose, on the other hand, is a heterogeneous polysaccharide containing pentoses and hexoses linked by β-1,4 glycosidic bonds, with a lower degree of polymerization. In bagasse, hemicellulose contains about 70% cellulose and 30% arabinose. Lignin, a complex aromatic polymer, plays a crucial role in the structural integrity of bagasse. It accounts for about 95% of the total weight, with a molecular weight ranging from 10,000 to 50,000. Lignin is mainly found in the epidermal layers and binds with hemicellulose to form a protective barrier, limiting the access of microorganisms or enzymes to cellulose. This makes the enzymatic hydrolysis of bagasse challenging. Research has shown that certain fungi, such as white-rot and soft-rot fungi, are capable of selectively degrading lignin, making them effective in softening bagasse. These biological agents can break down the lignin network, loosening the fiber structure and improving the efficiency of subsequent processing steps. The Golden Baby fermentation agent contains a diverse mix of fungi, bacteria, and actinomycetes that work synergistically to degrade lignin and improve the physical properties of bagasse. This biological pretreatment not only softens and loosens the fibers but also enhances the separation of individual fibers, leading to better pulp quality. Additionally, using this fermentation method significantly improves the mechanical strength of the resulting paper pulp, including increased tensile and tear resistance. By employing this advanced fermentation technology, the papermaking industry can achieve more sustainable and cost-effective production while maintaining high-quality output.

Alternative Sandbags

The new flood control and water retaining plate is made of composite materials and weighs only 3.8kg. It is easy to use and fast to install. The water baffle uses the "L" shape principle. The erected structure is used to block rainwater, and the ground structure can convert the accumulated water into pressure, so that the water baffle will not fall.

The new type of water retaining plate is flexible, It can be used in semi closed tunnels when there is less rainwater on the road surface, allowing special vehicles such as buses to pass first. Once the rainstorm becomes a disaster, the tunnel can be completely closed quickly to avoid greater damage.
Water absorbing sandbags can be dried and reused. Water active flood sandbags can be stored indoors in a dry place after the flood recedes. Water activiated Flood control bags that have not been soaked can be reused after being naturally dried. ‌12
When using absorbent sandbags, the bags should be moved to the desired location for flood prevention and interception. After the flood recedes, flood control bags that have not been soaked can be stored indoors in a dry place, while flood control bags that have been soaked can be reused in a dry place after natural drying.
In addition, the water absorbing sandbag is made of environmentally friendly materials and can be treated as general waste without causing pollution to the environment. ‌
